4.0.2 - Bug Fix and Polish Update

MailboxGUI 4.0.2

MailboxGUI 4.0.2 is a focused bug-fix and polish update for mailbox registration, admin/player send-mail state handling, and package experience claiming.

This update is recommended for all servers running MailboxGUI 4.0.0 or MailboxGUI 4.0.1.

Highlights

Mailbox Registration Improvements

Players can now register a mailbox by right-clicking either:

The mailbox chest
The front sign attached to the mailbox chest

This applies to:

/mailbox register

Admins can also use the same improved click behavior with:

/mailbox admin register <player>

A valid player mailbox is still:

Fence Post
Normal Single Chest placed on top
Sign attached to the front of the chest

This keeps the intended physical mailbox design while making the registration flow easier and more forgiving.

Admin / Player Send-State Fix

Fixed an issue where an admin using their own normal player mailbox could sometimes have player money mail routed through stale admin send-mail state.

This could cause the money flow to behave like admin/server money mail instead of normal player money mail.

The 4.0.2 fix now clears stale admin send-mail state when entering normal player send-mail flows, and clears stale player compose sessions when entering admin send-mail flows.

• Player package sending
• Player money sending
• Admin letter sending
• Admin package sending
• Admin money sending

Package Experience Update

Package XP claiming now behaves like money mail claiming.

Package experience can now be claimed with any click instead of only:

Right-click
Shift-left-click

New claim behavior:

Any click to claim

This applies to real claimable package XP inside received packages.

COD package preview lore remains unchanged and still warns players that they must accept the COD package before claiming XP.

Old Package XP Lore Upgrade

Old package XP items from 4.0.1 or earlier are upgraded safely through the mailbox data upgrade system.

This avoids risky runtime package-content rewriting while still updating old stored package XP lore to the new 4.0.2 behavior.

Language Updates

Language files were updated to:

file-version: 6

Updated language text includes:

• Player mailbox registration prompt
• Admin mailbox registration prompt
• Invalid mailbox block message
• Front-sign-required message
• Admin GUI mailbox registration lore
• Package XP claim lore

Existing customized language messages should be preserved where possible by the language upgrader.

Compatibility

Supported range:

Spigot/Paper 1.18.2 through 1.21.11
Spigot/Paper 26.1.x / 26.1.1 / 26.1.2

Important note:

MailboxGUI should be listed as 1.18.2+, not plain 1.18.x+.

Dynmap marker support is still not currently supported on:

26.1.x / 26.1.1 / 26.1.2

until Dynmap provides compatible builds for those versions.

MailboxGUI itself continues to work normally without Dynmap on those versions.

Upgrade Notes

If updating from 4.0.0 or 4.0.1, this should be a normal drop-in update.

Recommended steps:

1. Stop the server.
2. Back up your plugins/MailboxGUI/ folder.
3. Replace the old jar with the 4.0.2 jar.
4. Start the server.
5. Confirm mailbox registration works by clicking both the mailbox chest and front sign.
6. Confirm normal player money mail does not behave like admin/server money mail.
7. Confirm package XP can be claimed with any click.
8. Confirm older package XP mail opens correctly and uses the new XP claim lore.

Recommended Tests After Updating

After updating, test:

• /mailbox register by right-clicking the mailbox chest.
• /mailbox register by right-clicking the front sign.
• /mailbox admin register <player> by right-clicking the mailbox chest.
• /mailbox admin register <player> by right-clicking the front sign.
• Normal player money sending from an admin's own player mailbox.
• Admin/server money sending through Admin Tools.
• Regular package with XP from 4.0.1 or older.
• Pending COD package with XP from 4.0.1 or older.
• Accepted COD package with XP.
• Package XP claiming with left-click, right-click, shift-left-click, and shift-right-click.
